The fortified wines Quinta da Gaivosa Douro DOC, vintage 2016 from the winery Alves de Sousa has been rated in 2018 by Peter Moser with 91 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca from the region Douro in Portugal.
Dark ruby garnet colour with purple reflections, delicate brightening at the rim. Notes of black forest berry confit with floral nuances in the background, a hint of liquorice and blackberry confit, some Havana tobacco and suede in the echo. Juicy, ripe plums, dark cherries, notes of chocolate, integrated tannins, medium complexity and length, will drink well soon.
