The red wine Izadi Expresión Rioja DOCa, vintage 2000 from the winery Bodegas Izadi has been rated in 2004 with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Tempranillo from the region Rioja Alavesa in Spain.
This expressive Rioja comes from 75-year-old Tempranillo vines from a 5-hectare vineyard, which was fermented in new French barriques and aged for 18 months. Only 14,000 bottles of this vintage were produced. Brilliant ruby-garnet color, delicate edge brightening, watery rim, fine dark berries on the nose, spicy, cinnamon and cloves, very inviting, enormously elegant on the palate, juicy, complex, very finely interwoven tannins, delicately peppery spice on the finish, cranberries, chocolate in the aftertaste.
