The red wine Syrah Topside, vintage 2012 from the winery Keermont Vineyards has been rated in 2016 by Ulrich Sautter, Peter Moser, Othmar Kiem with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Syrah from the region Stellenbosch in South Africa.
Deep, dark ruby-garnet with purple reflections and a touch of rim brightening. Fresh red berry nuances on the nose are underlaid with sweet, exotic spices and hints of candied orange zest and nougat. There's also a darker berry jam note in the background. The palate is powerful and tightly meshed but still juicy. Perfectly ripe tannins and a finesse-rich acidity deliver structure whilst a dark minerality appears on the persistent finish. Without a doubt the best producer for cool-toned Syrahs in South Africa.
