The red wine Abtei Muri Lagrein Riserva Südtirol DOC, vintage 2018 from the winery Klosterkellerei Muri-Gries has been rated in 2021 by Othmar Kiem und Simon Staffler with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Lagrein from the region Alto Adige in Italy.
It has a brilliant rich ruby purple colour. On the nose it opens with pronounced spicy notes, some black pepper and galangal, then lots of elderberry. There are firm tannins on the palate, both gripping and hearty, with pronounced earthy notes on the finish, and ending with some dark chocolate.
