The red wine La Mondotte, vintage 2016 from the winery Château La Mondotte has been rated in 2017 by Peter Moser with 96 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet Franc from the region St. Emilion in France.
Deep, dark ruby in colour with a strong core and purple reflections, brightening at the rim. Black cherry nose. There is a rich density to the linear palate, which is textured, grippy, and full of limestone minerality. With respect, the palate has a graininess, coupled with minerality. The grainy tannin masks the viscosity and vice versa. Still compact and almost unimpressive, it will age gigantically.
