The red wine Pian delle Macchie Taurasi DOCG, vintage 2018 from the winery Macchie Santa Maria Cantine has been rated in 2024 by Othmar Kiem, Simon Staffler with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Aglianico from the region Campania in Italy.
Rich, deep ruby red in colour with a brightening orange rim. On the nose, accessible aromas, initially of forest fruits, especially blackberry and a touch of espresso. The powerful, driven palate is tannic and very spicy with a dense, astringent finish. Still needs some ageing!.
