The red wine Ripe al Convento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG, vintage 2017 from the winery Marchesi Frescobaldi has been rated in 2023 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Sangiovese from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Deep, luminous ruby with garnet glints. Opens on the nose with notes of liquorice, then lots of ripe fruit, dark cherry, prune, plus some earthy components. On the palate a lot of grippy, firm tannin characterises the texture, in the final a lot of drive, some tobacco.
