The red wine Blankenhornsberg Doktorgarten Spätbugunder GG trocken, vintage 2014 from the winery Staatsweingut Freiburg has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Spätburgunder from the region Baden in Germany.
Herbal notes precede the fruit on the nose, with what few primary aromas there are mainly focussed on cherry. On the palate, the volcanic minerality predominates, wrapped up in a powerfully built body with a soft, velvety base thanks to ripe tannins. Good length on the mineral-savoury finish. This is great.
