Deep ruby colour, purple reflections, slightly watery rim. Dark berry fruit underlaid with fine savouriness, exotic spices, a hint of caramel, a note of vanilla, with candied violet blossom in the background, and toasty aromas. Juicy, ripe fruit, firm but rounded tannins, complex on the palate, marvellous fruit sweetness on the finish, shows good length, with certain further ageing potential. Also great in "smaller" years: typical delicate creamy ripeness, raspberry and cherry, chocolate, mocha. Finesse in the mouth, finest fruit play, very typical Vega - still needs time. A great classic.
