The red wine Merlot Rotundo, vintage 2019 from the winery Weinbau Gottschuly-Grassl has been rated in 2021 by Peter Moser with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Carnuntum in Austria.
It has a deep dark ruby colour, with purple reflections, an opaque core, and a delicate bright rim. There are lovely tobacco aroma nuances, hints of blackberry, black wild berry confit, and an underlay of oaky spiciness. On the palate it is tightly woven, with a firm fine tannin structure, spicy notes, some cassis on the finish, and minerality on the back palate. It has certain ageing potential.
