The white wine Burg Layen Chardonnay "S" trocken, vintage 2015 from the winery Weingut Joh. Bapt. Schäfer has been rated in 2017 with 91 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Chardonnay from the region Nahe in Germany.
Roasted hazelnut on the nose, with some reductive notes, as well as pear, melon, and a nice oak character. It is fresh and compact on the palate, with good density and traction, the oak gives dynamism and frame to the power, and minerality and nerve push the wine to great length. It is not a typical fat Chardonnay.
