The red wine Walporzheimer Pfaffenberg Portugieser Goldkapsel trocken, vintage 2012 from the winery Weingut Peter Kriechel has been rated in 2020 by Ulrich Sautter with 91 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Blauer Portugieser from the region Ahr in Germany.
Almond, ripe, and slightly animalistic, with a balsamic note, and malty wild berry fruit. Plump and creamy on the palate, very powerful, with a mellow melted tannins that still reveal the remnants of its youthful graininess, rather mild acidity, rich in content, and powerful. It is charming with a vivid fruit sweetness, and is still far from the end of its life.
