The red wine Merlot Ried Altenberg Reserve, vintage 2016 from the winery Weingut Pittnauer has been rated in 2019 by Peter Moser with 93 - 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Lake Neusiedl in Austria.
Deep dark ruby with purple reflections and a slightly lighter rim. Aromas of ripe, dark fruits of the forest jam, fine oak spice, blackberries and some dark chocolate. The palate is juicy, with integrated tannins, multi-faceted texture and expressive fruit, with plum notes on the finish. The flavours last well and it certainly has ageing potential.
