The Reinisch family, now in its fourth generation of winemaking, cultivates vineyards in the most prized locations around the traditional winemaking villages of Tattendorf and Gumpoldskirchen. The unique characteristics of the alluvial brown soils lie in their excellent permeability, which ensures rapid warming and thus favours the ripening process of the grapes. The high lime content imparts a pronounced minerality to the wines and makes the Johanneshof Reinisch soils particularly suitable for cultivating the Pinot varieties.
Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, and Chardonnay are the main varieties grown at the winery, which has been a member of Traditionsweingüter Österreich since 2022. In addition, Rotgipfler and Zierfandler are cultivated in the nearby village of Gumpoldskirchen on terroir that is well suited to them, where they thrive just as well as the other varieties while retaining their distinctive character.
In harmony with the microclimate, about 60 percent of the wines are red, 40 percent white, and sweet, and managed with the utmost attention to detail in the vineyard and cellar. The brothers Johannes, Christian, and Michael Reinisch adhere to the principles of organic farming and viticulture.
