Beach Access in Sardinia Now Requires Online Reservations

Italy
Beach

Visitors hoping to spend a day at Sardinia’s famous Tuerredda Beach will no longer be able to arrive on a whim. Instead, beach access must be reserved online in advance for a small fee. The measure has been introduced to manage the growing number of visitors to one of the island’s most popular beaches.

Anyone planning to visit the renowned Tuerredda Beach in southern Sardinia should make arrangements well ahead of time. As in the previous year, local authorities have once again introduced a digital booking system this season to regulate visitor numbers and protect the area’s fragile natural environment.

Online Tickets and Daily Visitor Cap

Known for its fine white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, Tuerredda is one of Sardinia’s most sought-after beaches. During the summer months, however, visitor numbers regularly exceed the beach’s capacity. To reduce pressure on the coastline and its ecosystem, entry is now only possible with a pre-booked online ticket.

Daily access is limited to approximately 1,100 visitors. Guests who fail to arrive within their reserved time slot forfeit their booking. A beach access fee of between €1 and €2 per person also applies.

Additional environmental protection measures have already been in place at Tuerredda for several years. Smoking on the beach, leaving behind plastic waste, and removing sand, stones, or seashells are all strictly prohibited.

Reservations Becoming the Norm on Sardinia

With the introduction of mandatory reservations, Tuerredda joins a growing number of Sardinian beaches adopting similar measures. Many of the island’s most popular beaches now require advance booking through dedicated websites or apps and operate with fixed daily visitor limits. These include La Pelosa, San Teodoro, Cala dei Gabbiani, Cala Biriala, Cala Goloritzé, and Cala Mariolu.
