On April 5, 2025, the people of Valais set a new world record for the largest raclette party in Martigny, serving Raclette du Valais AOP to over 4,800 guests. Previous recordholder France had to admit defeat.

On Saturday, April 5, 2025, an impressive chapter in raclette history was written in Martigny in the Swiss canton of Valais, the originator of raclette cheese: With 4,893 participants, the town set a new world record for the largest raclette party in the world. The number of guests greatly surpassed the previous record of 2,236 people, which was set in Saint-Étienne, France, in March 2024.

The event, known as "The Plus Grande Raclette of the World", was organized by MyExpo and attracted almost 5,000 raclette aficionados to Martigny, where over 250 volunteers ensured that everything ran smoothly. Guests enjoyed local Raclette du Valais AOP cheese, melted to perfection and accompanied by popular local side dishes like potatoes from Migros Valais and pickled vegetables from Hugo Reitzel.

The response to the event was overwhelming, selling out in advance and prompting the organizers to provide additional capacity due to extremely high demand. The event not only set a new world record, but also strengthened the community – and brought bragging rights for Raclette back home to Valais.
