In celebration of Valentine's Day, fitness food specialist Foodspring and no-alcohol spirit-maker Lyre's teamed up to create these protein-rich Red Velvet Energy Balls.

Ingredients (8 servings)
45 g instant oats
30 g Foodspring Chocolate Flavour Vegan Protein
3 tablespoon(s) cocoa powder
3 tablespoon(s) coconut flour
70 ml oat milk
30 ml Lyre’s Pink Gin
30 g stoned dates
2 teaspoon(s) beetroot powder
½ teaspoon(s) Foodspring Flavour Kick Vanilla
100 g dark chocolate
2 tablespoon(s) dried strawberries (optional)

Preparation:

  • Using a high-powered blender, finely purée the dates.
  • Put the instant oats, vegan protein, cocoa powder, coconut flour and Flavour Kick in a bowl.
  • Add the oat milk, pink gin, beetroot powder and date purée and knead until smooth.
  • Form the dough into 8 equal balls.
  • Melt the dark chocolate over a bain-marie (or in a microwave).
  • Dip the energy balls in the chocolate and sprinkle over the dried strawberry pieces (if using). Leave to dry before serving.
