Falstaff Wine Guide Italy 2026

With its picturesque location on the hills of Castellina, the small medieval village of Il Caggio is perhaps something of a place of longing for Tuscany fans. The Mazzei family, who acquired the property in 2006, may also have been influenced by this. Special attention was paid to a small, 6.5-hectare enclave with a terroir of slate, calcareous marl and Albarese, which is where the legendary IPSUS Gran Selezione is produced. Each parcel and each clone is vinified separately before the batches are brought together to create this unique terroir wine.
