The Peter Sölva winery is one of the oldest wineries in the wine village of Kaltern. Documents dating back to 1731 prove that the Sölva family in Kaltern has been growing, pressing and selling wine without interruption for ten generations. The vineyards are located in the Überetsch region, around Lake Kaltern, in the South Tyrolean lowlands and around Bolzano. Since Stephan P. Sölva actively joined the business in 1990, many new projects have been tackled.
In addition to the vineyard projects and improvement work, the wines have been divided into two lines, whose names are an expression of the family history: "DeSilva", derived from the original family name, stands for the estate wines with Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon, Gewürztraminer, Kalterer-See-Vernatsch, Perrosé and Lagrein from old vines. "Amistar" is named after Susanna Amistar, an ancestor of the current owners who immigrated from Spain. The white cuvée "Amistar" combines Chardonnay aged in wood and 20 percent Sauvignon Blanc. The red cuvée "Amistar" consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Lagrein from the barrique.
The winery also has its own wine shop with garden in the picturesque Goldgasse in the heart of Kaltern - a meeting place for connoisseurs, where the estate's own wines are served with delicious snacks. Grappas and the "Amistar" brandy from the distillery round off the offer.
