Tasting Notes
Deep crimson garnet, with ochre coloured reflections, and brightening on the rim. Elegant, a bit restrained at first, fine red wild berries, richly faceted, refined delicacy, hints of dried fruit, fresh cherries, and very seductive. Silky, delicate, full of finesse, with a rich structure, red wild berries, fine tannins, balanced, with a persistent sweetness. One of the very great Grange wines, showing in top form.
More about the tastingQuite dark ruby garnet with delicate ochre reflections, subtle watery rim. Hints of dark berry fruit, fine chocolate and mineral nuances under nuances of dried herbs from the maquis. Powerful and extract-sweet on the palate, not unlike a great ripe Châteauneuf-du-Pape in terms of volume, full-bodied, sweet tannins, good underlying acid structure, very good length, nutty touch in the finish, an overall somewhat rustic-looking Grange that still has a lot of life and future.
More about the tastingDeep carmine-garnet color, ochre reflections, broad rim brightening. Some nougat, a hint of damp wool, some olive bread, a hint of dried plums. Medium body, sweet dark berry confit, somewhat dry tannins, shows no particular length, better than the first of the two bottles tasted, but not really outstanding either.
