A deep, subtly layered carmine-garnet color. Red wild berry jam with a delicate earthy undertone, a hint of velvety texture, and nuances of cassis. Somewhat rough at its core, with dry tannins; perhaps a slight hint of cork; Havana tobacco in the finish; falls a bit short this time—certainly not the best bottle; last rated 94 points in 2011.

Strong, delicately underlaid carmine garnet. Delicate earthy nuances, some cedar wood, fine red berry fruit, tobacco touch, a hint of cherries, somewhat ethereal, multi-faceted bouquet. Juicy, racy structure, sour cherries, delicate hints of cassis and lemons, chalky nuances, firm tannins, medium complexity, rich in finesse, fresh and animating to drink, almost like a Rhône wine, still has a lot to offer
