The red wine »Reserve« Malsch Rotsteig Syrah trocken, vintage 2020 from the winery Wein- und Sektgut Hummel has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter with 92 - 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Syrah from the region Baden in Germany.
Aromas of dark chocolate and cherry brandy are evident on the nose, the wine is compact and "cool" on the palate, the tannins are fresh and tense, but its fine, almost pinot-like texture also shows high phenolic maturity and is not astringent. The finish emphasises the (cherry) fruit and underpins it with juiciness and tactile mineral components. A wine rich in substance, extracted to the point.
