Tasting Notes
Strong yellow gold with brightening. Intense nuances of lime zest on the nose, incredibly fresh aroma, notes of pomelo, racy bouquet, virtually free of botrytis, just like the following 49er. (According to Egon Müller, both wines would certainly be classified as Spätlese today.) Elegant and creamy on the palate, delicately fruity, the acidity is very well integrated, with a fine, delicately caramelly sweet finish. This is one of the possible directions in which the equally hot and dry 2003 vintage could develop.
More about the tastingIntense bouquet with wonderful fruit, smoky slate and spicy, almost peppery notes, plus green tea and dried fruit. Juicy, full-bodied and dense on the palate, with spicy botrytis notes that appear somewhat bitter on the finish, as the sweetness has receded in the meantime. Elegant polish, silky texture, with caramel notes and green tea on the finish. Appears dense and firm and is drinking well now.
