The white wine »Höchste Lage« Hohentwiel Elisabethenberg Grauburgunder, vintage 2020 from the winery Weingut Vollmayer has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Grauer Burgunder from the region Baden in Germany.
Some wood on the nose. The aroma is very clear and intense: perfectly ripe Charentais melon and ripe pear. The wine is viscous on the palate, its fine-grained, silky phenolics clothe the body, which is made broad by relatively high alcohol, with ripe acidity forming the backbone. Slightly salty at the end. Should grow into "cool" opulence as it matures in the bottle.
