Maresco is a white grape variety grown in the Puglia region. Maresco is one of the smaller, autochthonous Apulian grape varieties that occurs primarily in the old vineyards of the Itria Valley. The true origin of the name Maresco is unknown. The Maresco grape variety produces a wine with a straw yellow color and a discreet olfactory intensity, characterized above all by floral and herbaceous notes, while the fruity scents are light but very pleasant. The good alcohol content and structure are accompanied by good flavor persistence and balance as well as excellent acidity. These properties make it suitable for blending to increase acidity in dry white wines as well as for sparkling wines.
