"Organic Wines" Wineries in Burgenland
A breath of fresh air every year: the now pop-up heuriger keeps moving. In 2025, the MAST team led by Matthias Pitra and Steve Breitzke provides fresh impetus. Natural wines, home-grown vegetables and, of course, the much-loved Leberkäse.
It can get hot in the eponymous "Hölle" vineyard - which is why there is also Gols beer alongside the wines. Markus Lentsch's flagship Zur Dankbarkeit is committed to the quality of the cold delicacies. He also stocks the legendary Pinot Gris.
Elisabeth and Johannes Rittsteuer have created a Mediterranean, relaxed place to enjoy their organic wines. Cheese and olives are the minimum requirements for wine lovers. Fridays, when they always serve freshly baked Buchteln, have become a firm favourite.
A Heuriger of the fine variety; modern and straightforwardly furnished, the menu is just as clear and focussed. Fried Blunzn and roasted liver pay homage to the classics, while goat's cheese dumplings and refined pasta dishes add a fresh twist.
The Kaisers have been producing high-quality wines for four generations. The grandfather once went to Japan as a "wine missionary"; the red wine cuvée "Tenno" is a powerful homage to him. But white wines from the Leithaberg also impress thanks to their drinkability.
The menu follows the rhythm of the seasons. Refined dishes full of savouriness, depth and creative ideas never cease to surprise. However, the unchanged classic and evergreen of the house, which never goes out of fashion, remains the onion roast.
A place to arrive and stay: modern, flooded with light and with a feel-good atmosphere. Under the shady vines, hearty classic snacks, fine breads and cold platters taste twice as good - uncomplicated, regional and cosy.
The Lehner family uses products from the region to create hearty snacks, seasonal specialities and traditional home cooking. The wine list delivers total Burgenland: from Blaufränkisch to Muskat Ottonel. Recommendation: the organic range and the Grammelpogatscherln!
The Weber family's wine tavern, which has been providing solid quality in the Girm district for over half a century, is as classic as their wines from the Eisenberg. Familiar atmosphere, sandwiches and large mixed platters. Tip: Welschriesling.
