Soft drink manufacturer Fentimans examined a total of 121 spirits brands in nine different categories in a recent survey. The UK family business produces lemonades, tonic waters and other mixers. When analysing the performance of spirits brands, their social media presence, among other things, played an important role.
The Top 5 Spirits
- Hennessy (Cognac)
- Au Vodka (Vodka)
- Captain Morgan (Rum)
- Smirnoff Vodka (Vodka)
- Ciroc Vodka (Vodka)
Hennessy, a Cognac from leading luxury goods manufacturer LVMH Group, took first place. Its Instagram account with more than 715,000 followers was decisive for its high ranking. Another reason highlighted by the survey as explaining its popularity could be that the brand is often mentioned in lyrics by rappers such as Drake.
Second place goes to Au Vodka from Great Britain due to its viral social media strategies, such as the recent raffle of a golden Lamborghini. Captain Morgan rum, Smirnoff Vodka and Cîroc Vodka – all brands of the British drinks giant Diageo – took out the rest of the top five places.
