Joe Biden made the remarks during his first late-night TV appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He emphasised that he and his wife, Dr Jill Biden, both come from "middle class backgrounds" and weren't used to being waited on when he become the 46th President of the United States.
"We now have a deal, and they're great the guys who run the kitchen on the second floor, we don't have them come in do breakfast for us because there's no need for them to have to do breakfast for us. We can make our own eggs, or you know pour a bowl of cereal," he said.
President Biden quickly clarified that his wife cooks the eggs rather than him. He joked that his daughter once described his cooking skills bluntly to an interviewer when she was nine or ten years old: "My daddy can't do much. He can boil water and make 'pasgetti'."
He might not be much of a culinary whizz but President Biden is a big ice cream fan. Chocolate chip is reportedly his favourite flavour. CNN once even made a tongue-in-cheek video clip looking at how often he has been filmed eating ice cream on camera.
