Explora Journeys, the luxury cruise division of the MSC group, has secured prominent support to become recognised as a ‘new’ and sustainable brand for luxury cruise travel: adventurer and environmentalist Mike Horn has been appointed as brand ambassador.

South-African born Horn, who also holds Swiss citizenship, has made expeditions to some of the world’s most remote and challenging environments: he has crossed the Arctic, Antarctic and Amazon, as well as sailing solo around the world; he is also a dedicated environmentalist.

As an ambassador for Explora Journeys, Horn will work closely with the brand’s team to develop adventure destination experiences and onboard enrichment programmes, a press release said, with Horn leading guests in exploring a number of locations. Explora´s Iceland and Greenland Journey, ‘Arctic Geyser, Calving Glaciers, and Fiery Lands of Ice’, will sail from Reykjavik to New York City from September 9 to 25. During this journey, Horn will take guests on two different hikes in remote areas of Greenland.

Explora I, the first of six ships of the new luxury brand of MSC´s cruise division, will sail on July 17, 2023, from Southampton on its maiden voyage.
