Alain Ducasse to open fourth London store

French chef to create new venue in capital’s vibrant development.

Alain Ducasse will open a new store in London, based on his La Manufacture concept, serving ice cream and chocolate created in the in-store kitchen – a London first for Ducasse.

The French chef has around 30 chocolate shops across France, with the latest at Borough Yards taking the number in London to four, including a site in Oxford Street’s Selfridges store. The Manufactures branch of the Ducasse business started in 2013 with Stéphane Prévidi of Les Manufactures Alain Ducasse, labelling the new site as “a significant advantage to our development strategy”.

Ducasse started his career in Soustons in southwest France in 1972, and by 2012 he held 21 Michelin stars making him the second-ranked chef worldwide in terms of total Michelin stars, behind Joël Robuchon. He now operates restaurants, stores, and cooking schools around the world, and also works for the European Space Agency to develop astronaut meals to be taken into space.

Boroughs Yard is a development on the south side of the River Thames centring on culture, dining and shopping, next door to the foodie hotspot Borough Market; it has a range of restaurants, bars and shops for visitors to enjoy.
