The luxury hotel brand "Four Seasons" is planning a comeback in the German capital together with the Italian real estate group "Gruppo Statuto". The traditional "Hotel de Rome" will be extensively modernized and restaged. At the end of 2027, it is set to shine anew under the name "Four Seasons Hotel Berlin".
Back to Berlin
For the Canadian hotel group, the project marks a return to Berlin: until 2004, Four Seasons had a hotel in the former Regent Berlin. The redesign of the "Hotel de Rome", most recently part of the "Rocco Forte Hotels", comprises 140 guest rooms and suites as well as restaurants, bars and public areas. The historic façade has been preserved, while the interior combines classic elements and contemporary design, stylishly reflecting Berlin's rich cultural diversity.
History at Bebelplatz
The imposing building was built at the end of the 19th century as the headquarters of Dresdner Bank and was first converted into a hotel in 2006. Its location in Berlin-Mitte, just a few steps away from St. Hedwig's Cathedral, the State Opera and Museum Island, puts it at the heart of the cultural scene.
Architecture, design and new highlights
The renowned studio Humbert & Poyet is responsible for the design. The interiors will be designed in such a way that historical details become more visible again and at the same time modern elegance moves in. Future highlights include three independent restaurant and bar concepts, including a spacious rooftop lounge with a view over the rooftops of the city - a meeting place that is likely to attract both Berliners and guests from all over the world. The spa and fitness area is being built in a former jewel vault. In addition, an event area with more than 1,000 square meters is being redesigned to host events of all sizes in style.
Remodeling and management
The hotel will remain open under the name "Hotel de Rome" until the end of 2026 before it is partially closed for the final renovation phase. During this time, selected services will remain available.
The new Four Seasons Hotel will be managed by Christian Poda, a native of Berlin who has held various management roles in the group since 1999 - most recently as Regional Vice President for several hotels in China and Hong Kong. With his return to Berlin, he accompanies the transformation of the house into a new era.
Cooperation with "Gruppo Statuto"
The collaboration between "Four Seasons" and real estate developer "Gruppo Statuto", which has already produced iconic hotels such as the "San Domenico Palace" in Taormina and the "Four Seasons Hotel Milano" as well as the "Danieli" in Venice (opening mid-2026), continues with this prestigious Berlin project.
