Hollywood star backs home country’s wine industry

Sam Neill voices new video for New Zealand Winegrowers.

He’s better known for promoting dinosaur parks in Hollywood movies, but Sam Neill’s latest project involves promoting something a little closer to his heart – his home country and its popular wines.

The Jurassic Park actor is voicing a video for New Zealand Winegrowers, highlighting the country’s unique qualities that sees its wines much sought-after, namely its climate, location and industry innovation.

And it’s very personal to the 75-year-old actor, he himself owning a family vineyard in Central Otago called Two Paddocks, specialising in premium quality Pinot Noir wines.

The promotion of the country’s wines comes from a position of strength, with exports last year increasing by six per cent, reaching an all-time high value of more than NZ$2billion (approx. €1.2billion).

“This storytelling asset will tell the foundational story of New Zealand wine through the lens of the key pillars of purity, innovation and care – aspects that make New Zealand wine and the New Zealand wine industry so unique and special,” according to Charlotte Read, General Manger of Marketing at New Zealand Winegrowers.
