Man schrieb das Jahr 1981, als bei Gölles die ersten Apfelbrände ins Eichenfass wanderten. Maschansker, Ilzer Rosenapfel, Gravensteiner - nur ein Auszug aus der Reihe der alten Apfelsorten, die nach der Destillation noch für mindestens acht Jahre in unseren Eichenfässern bis zur Vollendung reifen dürfen.
Der Alte Apfel ist die steirische Antwort auf den französischen Calvados - jedoch aus der Maische der Früchte und nicht aus gelagertem Apfelwein gebrannt - und betört mit seinen reifen Fruchtaromen und seinen milden Holznoten.

Fruity and savour, slightly floral, some fresh oak on the nose. Pleasantly soft on the palate, savoury, the fully ripe apple takes its time and only appears in the middle section. The finish is soft, almost coniferous- savoury and fruity.
