Julia Kilarski's success with her exceptional patisserie art is undisputed. The second branch proves this just as impressively. Tartlets, fine pastries and outstanding petits fours - delicieux! The tarte au citron in particular is a revelation.

Whether in the Wien Museum before or after - a visit is worthwhile. Here, cooking is done with great experimentation, courage and fine technique, impressively demonstrated by the fermented, grilled celeriac.

The beautifully designed restaurant with its green, leafy pavement garden out front is the place to go for "sweet" breakfast lovers, as French toast and pancakes are served in a fine variety. Thanks to shakshuka and the like, there's also plenty of savoury options.

With tramezzini, panini and espresso just like in Italy, you can enjoy a bit of that holiday feeling right in the beautiful pub garden. The "dolce far niente" atmosphere is perfect - from breakfast to aperitivo in the evening.

The modern and colourful café is appealing on several levels, as it is an integrative workplace and an ideal place for late risers, as the breakfast variations are served until 5 pm. Fine pastries and snacks are of course also available.

"Homemade" is the motto in the small coffee shop - even the breakfast muesli is homemade, as are the pastries. Breads and baguettes are baked for savoury appetites, and a cool drink goes best with the crispy tarte flambée.

Johann-Strauß-Gasse 5, 1040 Vienna, Austria

No longer an insider tip for breakfast lovers. Especially in summer, when the Naschmarkt comes to life, the café is an ideal place to let yourself go. Mediterranean-oriental cuisine meets Viennese breakfast, bagels and much more.

Naschmarkt Stand 421–436, 1040 Vienna, Austria

This is where the idea of utilising the baking expertise of the grandparents began. Cakes, strudels and tarts are still served to perfection, and the cosy pub garden has become a hotspot - also thanks to the delicious breakfast.

A historic Art Nouveau coffee house straight out of a picture book: green velvet sofas, striking lamps and even the pool table has remained. Jutta Scheuch and Alexander Magyar have added a few modern touches and added contemporary elements to the menu.

Argentinierstraße 49, 1040 Vienna, Austria

The Viennese coffee house original stands for the perfect blend of quality, warm service and ambience. The Oriental breakfast and avocado burger are bold attempts at something new, while the classics remain. The special omelette with mini Debreziner is a cult favourite.

Special eating habits or intolerances are not an issue here! Whether lactose-, nut- or gluten-free, low in histamine or fructose, in this café you can enjoy cream slices, brownies, cheesecake and many popular pastry classics without any worries.

It's definitely worth taking a little more time here. The breakfast is anything but ordinary: Eggs Benedict in a croissant, Kaiserschmarren with pieces of lotus. Plus fantastic coffee and the famous doughnuts. Simple, but so delicious!

Favoritenstraße 45, 1040 Vienna, Austria

In this rather unassuming restaurant near the Naschmarkt, it's what's inside that counts. The friendly service brings excellent breakfast options to the table, always freshly prepared and presented with attention to detail. Along with that there's great music and fine coffee.
