Founded in 1959, Domaine Andau is the oldest winery in Andau and, with almost 630 hectares of vineyards, the largest winery in Burgenland. Almost 80 families cultivate the vineyards, which are mainly located in and around Andau and offer a wide variety of different soil formations. The estate's wines are selected exclusively from Andau vineyards. Village wines of the local varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Sankt Laurent as well as Grüner Veltliner and Sauvignon Blanc form the basis of the range. The wines are gently matured in steel tanks and used wooden barrels and are full of character in red, white, rosé and sweet varieties.
From 2021, the top of the range will be Zweigelt and Sankt Laurent single-vineyard wines, which have been trained in new and used wooden barrels and stand for high-quality and characterful representatives of their type with storage certain ageing potential. Strictly limited yields per hectare, sustainable cultivation and rigorous selection of the grapes guarantee the high quality of the wines. During vinification, great importance is attached to the gentlest possible processing. The aim is to produce elegant, varietal wines that show their provenance and are excellent accompaniments to food. Domaine Andau has been IFS-certified for many years and is currently in the process of converting to "Sustainable Austria".
