The Scheiblhofer winery is located in Andau in the district of Neusiedl am See and is one of the largest wineries in Burgenland with its 110 hectares of vineyards. Known for its fine red wine "Big John", the estate was established by Johann Scheiblhofer and taken over by his son Erich in 2000. In addition to the production of high-quality wines, the family business is characterised by modernity, innovation, sustainability and social competence. Scheiblhofer was therefore the first winegrower in Austria to be awarded the "Leitbetriebe Austria" certificate in 2017. But that's not all: in May 2017, the winery was named the best family business in Burgenland by the daily newspaper "Die Presse" together with Bankhaus Spängler, BDO Austria and the Austrian Chamber of Notaries, as well as "Winery of the Year" in the 2019 "Best of Burgenland" wine awards organised by the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture. Two years later, Erich Scheiblhofer was also named "Winemaker of the Year 2021" by Falstaff. Scheiblhofer is one of the pioneers in the field of sustainability and has been characterised by its energy self-sufficient wine production for years. This is made possible by the winery's own photovoltaic system, the largest privately operated in Burgenland. A further expansion to a total of 668 kWp took place in spring 2020. The mobile transportation of employees should also be energy-efficient in the future. For this reason, electric vehicles have already been purchased and a charging station has been installed. Situated in one of the most ideal wine locations in Austria and in possession of the most barrique barrels in the country, Scheiblhofer is considered an important employer in the region as well as a supporter and promoter of social projects. The winery is known far beyond Austria's borders as a place of well-being, and with "The Resort", a spa hotel of superlatives, there is now finally more space for the winery's many visitors. Of course, the winery's success is no coincidence: all this is only possible thanks to the tireless efforts of all employees and the enormous solidarity of the family members.
