Weingut Brenneis-Koch

Falstaff Wine Guide Germany 2022

Matthias Koch and Verena Suratny have been running the winery since 1993. It is the result of a merger between their parents' winery Erhard Koch in Ellerstadt and the traditional Emil Brenneis winery in Leistadt. "As biologists and career changers, we have turned our hobby into our profession," the two write. "We accompany Vitis vinifera from the field to the cellar to the bottle." They do this very well year after year. The pair's great specialty is their Viognier. This aromatic grape variety is actually at home in the Rhône, but also produces great wines in the Pfalz. Be sure to try it!
