It is not everyday that the red wines from a Moselle vineyard get high marks. But to make things even more unusual, at Daniel Gehlen it is not their Pinot Noir that competes with the single-vineyard Rieslings, but its Blaufränkisch and Syrah. The latter, which we awarded a sensational 94 points in the 2020 vintage, does not quite have the same juiciness and richness in the cooler 2021 vintage as in the previous year. But it is still outstanding. Quite clearly the variety suits the winemaker and the vineyard!
