The red wine Calabrone Venezia Giulia IGT, vintage 2018 from the winery Bastianich has been rated in 2023 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Refosco, Merlot from the region Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy.
Rich, deep dark ruby with a slight purple tinge. Opens on the nose with intense spicy notes, black pepper and fig leaf, then blackberryish, wild raspberry and liquorice. Substantial and dense in texture, lots of dark berryish fruit, grippy tannins, nice interplay between fruit texture and fine dark chocolate.
