The red wine Nussleiten Merlot Riserva Südtirol DOC, vintage 2019 from the winery Castel Sallegg has been rated in 2023 by Othmar Kiem, Simon Staffler with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Alto Adige in Italy.
Bright, radiant ruby red. On the nose initially a waft of fine wood and cranberry, before cold smoke, dark chocolate and leather notes emerge. Some riper notes, like cherry, also come with time. The palate is hearty and well stuffed with vivid, powerful tannins. The finish is currently still somewhat wood-dominated.
