The red wine Volpaia Chianti Classico DOCG, vintage 2021 from the winery Castello di Volpaia has been rated in 2023 by Othmar Kiem, Simon Staffler with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Sangiovese, Merlot from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Intense, bright ruby red. A seductive, playful nose moves quickly in the glass - at times lots of fruit, cherry and raspberry, then emerges lots of peppery spice. It's similarly dynamic on the palate as well, starting out decidedly juicy and elegant before marzipan emerges alongside ripe tannin and a fresh acidity. A spiced, mineral finish ties it all up.
