Tasting Notes
A concentrated nose, sweet for Xinomavro’s standards, reminiscent of strawberry jam. This changes pleasantly on the palate, where it appears substantially more traditional, excellently toeing a line between sweet fruit and robust texture. Ramnista has historically been a wine that rewards long ageing and this is no exception. The tannins are still very young, almost overbearing right now, but the promise for the future is very clear. If it is any consolation, it is approachable much earlier than it used to be – the early ‘10s vintages are just entering peak. (Drink 2024-2032, where it will be 93-94 pts.)
