The red wine San Leopoldo Merlot Toscana Rosso IGT, vintage 2021 from the winery La Casaccia di Franceschi has been rated in 2024 by Othmar Kiem, Simon Staffler with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Bright ruby red. Opens directly on the nose with aromas of fine oak, vanilla, cocoa butter, then shows balsamic notes, the dark cherry fruit remains in the background. Rich in fruit and concentrated on the palate, polished, lively, acidity and dark fruit, again dominant wood aromas, muscular and multi-layered. Currently still somewhat unbalanced, still needs to age.
