The red wine Pratola Toscana Rosso IGT, vintage 2018 from the winery Rocca di Castagnoli has been rated in 2022 by Othmar Kiem, Simon Staffler with 89 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot
Brilliant dark ruby red in colour with a delicate tinge of purple. The nose is richly fruited, with blackberry and plum, also cherry compote, then after a little time, a noticeable note of spicy oak barrel. The palate has very grippy tannins, showing dark fruit and juice, but becomes more loosely knit on the back end and remains overpowering.
