The red wine Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, vintage 2016 from the winery Secondo Marco has been rated in 2025 by Othmar Kiem, Simon Staffler with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella from the region Fumane in Italy.
Dark, rich ruby red colour with a subtly brightening rim. Delicately savoury nose of crunchy walnut, ripe cherry, milk chocolate, pepper and violet. Great savouriness and fine aromas on the palate, embedded in creamy tannins, savoury fruit, very tense, slightly salty, beautifully harmonious.
More about the tastingBright ruby colour with a brick-red rim. Opens on vegetal, balsamic notes, before fleshy plum and sweet cherry, followed by thyme and mocha, multi-layered. Like a silk scarf on the palate, with opulent fruit flavours and firm tannins, with noticeable but well-integrated alcohol, long.
