The red wine Vallegre, vintage 2018 from the winery Vallegre – Vinhos do Porto has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter with 89+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional from the region Douro in Portugal.
Lots of new wood and a somewhat forced cherry fruit. There is also a hint of raisin and Marsala in the background. The palate is full-bodied and broad, with a slightly viscous base, the tannins are mealy to sandy, yet dense and yet downright charming, the wine finishes with sweet fruit. Douro table wine in an accessible format.
