The white wine Riesling Smaragd Hochrain, vintage 1997 from the winery Weingut Franz Hirtzberger has been rated in 2017 by Martin Kilchmann, Peter Moser, Ulrich Sautter with 100 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Riesling from the region Wachau in Austria.
Very youthful yellow green in colour with silver reflections. On the nose, notes of ripe stone fruit, a touch of white tropical fruit, fine herbal spices, distinct mineral nuances, and delicate orange zest, developing in many layers in the glass. The palate is juicy, with a great acid structure, still very taut and complex, showing fine white tropical fruit with a touch of saline minerality, fine lemony nuances that stimulate the palate and a touch of pineapple on the finish which is very long and delicious. Absolutely timeless, a graceful jewel of a Riesling.
