The red wine Spätburgunder Auslese, vintage 2020 from the winery Weingut Karl Veit has been rated in 2023 by Ulrich Sautter with 90 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the region Osann-Monzel in Germany.
The ageing in barrique still shows in the aroma with pleasant wood savouriness, also eucalyptus, some menthol, ripe cherry fruit and liquorice. The palate is supple and relaxed, deep in structure, dense in fruit, the ripe tannins in good measure provide grip, some supporting acidity. Fine spice underpins the ripe cherry and plum notes.
