Falstaff Wineguide Austria 2022/23

The Tement family winery is situated on a small mountain plateau above the imposing Zieregg vineyard. From here, guests and visitors can enjoy the magnificent panoramic view that stretches all the way to neighbouring Slovenia and southern Oststeiermark. The brothers Armin and Stefan work hand in hand with father Manfred in the third generation and are more than eager to continue the family business with the usual quality awareness and sense of tradition. Organic vineyards, low yields and selective manual work are the cornerstones of their work today and tomorrow and the prerequisite for elegant wines with an emphasis on provenance.

With Slovenia's accession to the EU, the top vineyard Zieregg could also be planted with new vines in neighbouring Slovenia. The microclimatic conditions of the Ciringa (Slovenian for Zieregg) site are ideal for long-lived, elegant, mineral Sauvignon Blancs. As an unmistakable sign of provenance, the Slovenian winery bears the name "Domaine Ciringa", which can be found this year in a separate section for Slovenia. The wine itself has been vinified under the name "Fosilni Breg" ("Fossil Mountain") since 2009. Both wineries, the Tement wine estate and the Domaine Ciringa, are certified organic and in the process of converting to organic-biological cultivation.
