Copenhagen is now the most liveable city
The Danish capital has dethroned Vienna and now tops the new ranking of the world’s most livable cities. Bike paths and education score high—and on top of that, Copenhagen surprises with its vibrant street food scene.
After three years at the top, Vienna has been dethroned: the British Economist Group has named Copenhagen the world's most liveable city in 2025 in its ranking. With the top score of 100 points in categories such as stability, education and infrastructure, Denmark's capital is now overtaking Vienna - also boosted by the decline in the stability score in the Austrian metropolis, which is attributed to foiled attack plans(according to Standard).
But what really makes Copenhagen so liveable - and therefore so exciting for travelers? In addition to its bicycle-friendliness, hygge flair and modern architecture, there's one aspect in particular that makes Copenhagen a magnet far beyond the borders of Scandinavia: its culinary diversity. And not just at star level in the famous Noma or Geranium, but right on the street - world-class street food.
A little tip in advance: If you want to combine street food with sightseeing, take a bike and explore the hotspots between the harbor, Nørrebro and Vesterbro. We present our selection!
